We’d like to take a moment to introduce our Spa Director, Terry Prager. With a degree in hotel management, Terry began her career managing The Biltmore Hotel Coral Gables’ fitness center and spa. After realizing that “people left the Spa feeling much better than when they arrived, unlike the members and guests after a tough work out,” she transitioned to Spa management. “There is a lovely sense of satisfaction in seeing people relaxed and happy and genuinely feeling better in themselves after a visit in your Spa.” Terry says she is drawn to the Spa industry because of the people; “professionals in the Spa Industry are a very special breed. They are caring, nurturing, and genuinely kind.” Seeing her guests leave relaxed and elated, she says “is such a blessing.”
What is the inspiration behind the refurbishment of The Spa at the Estate?
The Spa, formerly known as Spa Villagio, had been open for almost 8 years in the current location. The décor was starting to look a little dated. It had been created with a lot of love and great expense, in an Italian Villa style. It was starting to look tired and the direction for the entire 22-acre Estate Yountville property was more in the mode of Contemporary Luxury Lifestyle with a much more modern feel. The décor is now more muted greys and white, with some truly beautiful furnishings. The redesign was done by HBA, Hirsh Bednar and Associates.
What is the philosophy and vision of The Spa at the Estate?
We want our guests to experience unobtrusive, yet highly anticipatory service, returning home with memories that will last a lifetime. We aim to create a repeat clientele who truly appreciate the authenticity of our treatments and the quality of the products and our service delivery.
Why is The Spa at the Estate different from other luxury spas that you have worked with?
The service provided here is very personal and no detail is missed. It is sometimes difficult in a luxury setting to have the guest feel totally at home and relaxed. I feel that the setting of the Spa, the décor and the warm friendly Spa team make all the difference in the world. Many of our team have worked on the property for more than ten years. We have very tenured therapists and the guests really enjoy coming back year after year and seeing their favorite therapist.
What is your favorite facility/treatment that The Spa at the Estate offers, and why?
We have five luxurious Spa suites in our Spa, each with a fireplace and soaking tubs, and showers large enough to throw a party in! My idea of heaven would be to enjoy the Ultimate Ritual in a suite, relaxing afterwards in the soaking tub, full of ESPA Foam Bath and sipping on Champagne. The Ultimate Ritual includes an exfoliation with the ESPA body brush, followed by a salt and oil scrub, then a wrap, and finally a soothing massage. A slice of heaven!
